The Terrace
The Terrace is our newly renovated dining area featuring al fresco dining at the front section and also to the side is a new timber-decked terrace. Inside the entry, there is a cosy lounge –a great place to enjoy a coffee and further inside, a spacious and beautifully furnished dining area ideal for formal and informal functions. The Terrace serves lunch daily to residents and visitors, available through purchasing a meal ticket and making a booking one day prior.
Resident Community Centre
This area is currently under renovation and when completed as part of the overall central administration and amenity area, will provide an abundance of facilities and choice for our residents.
The cornerstone of the centre is the spacious hall/general function area with access to a stage -itself a flexible space providing an additional upper level room for other activities when required. Other amenities include kitchen and cafe for resident-organised coffee mornings / afternoons, proposed internet access, library and various other multi-purpose activity rooms. One side of the centre will open out onto the Tranby garden area through a series of doors.
Rowethorpe Medical Centre

UCH operates the Rowethorpe Medical Centre which is currently located in the ground floor of the Charles Jenkins building along Jenkins Avenue whilst renovations take place in the Central Administration area.
The Centre is open four mornings per week with three GP’s attending. Our four GP’s also make visits to our onsite residential aged care facilities.
We promote a management approach to healthcare, especially with regard to chronic disease.
Security and Emergencies
All units have security screen doors with the majority also having security windows.
There is a 24-hour emergency call system in each unit to provide further peace of mind.
Rowethorpe has security personnel after hours and on weekends to attend to any emergency calls and patrol the site.
Resident Workshop
Just below The Terrace dining area, there is a resident workshop is available for use by Rowethorpe independent living residents. There are various workshop tools.
Recreational and Social Activities
Living at Rowethorpe means you can become as involved in communal and social activities as you wish. The majority of organised activities on site are arranged by the residents themselves and the Social Committee welcomes new members at any time.
Activities include Wine & Cheese Nights, dinner outings, concerts, quizzes, Book Club, Writers’ Group, and Bowling Club with suggestions welcome at any time. See our Events section for more on advertised events.
Bowling
There is a newly refurbished bowling green on Jenkins Avenue and the Bowling Club welcomes new members at any time.
Indoor bowls will be available once again at the Resident Centre when renovations are completed.
Pharmacy
Pharmacy Help operates the Rowethorpe Pharmacy which is located on the ground floor of the Charles Jenkins Building before moving back to Administration on Jacaranda Avenue, following upgrade completion of this area.
Day Therapy Services
Through separate funding from the Department of Health and Ageing, there are ‘Day Therapy’ services currently available to independent living residents at Rowethorpe. These include physiotherapy, podiatry, occupational therapy and a Community Nurse. Nominal fees do apply for some services.
Friends and Family Welcome
Rowethorpe has a one-bedroom, self-contained Guest Unit in our North Terrace available for visiting friends and family. The unit comes complete with kitchen and linen is provided. Please contact our administration staff for more information about the Guest Unit.
