Rowethorpe is the base for home care services to suburbs in the area. Eligible clients referred through their Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) have the opportunity to receive care into their home to enable them to remain at home as independently as possible, and to give carers a break from their role.

‘Social Support’ which refers to assistance provided by a companion (volunteer) either within the home environment or while accessing community services, which is primarily directed towards meeting the person’s need for social contact and/or accompaniment in order to participate in community life. Social support includes friendly visiting services, letter writing for the person, shopping, bill paying and banking (when the client is accompanied by the worker) and telephone based monitoring services.
‘Respite care’ which refers to assistance received by a carer from a substitute carer who provides supervision and assistance to their care recipient (even though the carer may still be present). Respite Care is provided by the HACC program to carers in order to give them relief from their caring role.
