Uniting Church Homes - Caring for Elderly People in Western Australia

Sarah Hardey House

Location

Metro, South of the river, Kelmscott

Site Description

The original Sarah Hardey House was situated in Mount Lawley and opened in 1917 as a home for delinquent girls, later becoming a home for 45 elderly ladies (in 1949). The age of that building was one of the deciding factors when the Mount Lawley facility closed its doors in November 2001. Some of the staff and residents then transferred to the new ‘Sarah Hardey House’, now situated in Kelmscott, as we know it today. The facility is intermixed, offering 64 high and low care places -with dementia specific accommodation in each. The four ‘houses’ accommodate 16 residents each with all occupying spacious individual rooms (with ensuites). Shared lounges, dining and quiet areas are also available to residents and visitors in each house.

Four Houses:

Watts
Low Band
Jull
Low Band Dementia
Rudeforth
High Band Dementia
Pretty
High Ban
